Chaparral 2017-2018: 26.3 Milestones

Richard Cortes (Counseling) would like to share with the GCC community that his son, Lionel Yohan Cortes, was born on October 4th, 2017 at 6.7 lbs.

Nicole Hise (Human Resources) celebrated her 25th alumni reunion at USC homecoming weekend festivities.

Last spring, Peter Green (Music) recorded a piano/organ CD with organist Mark Thallander. Mark was an adjunct instructor at GCC in piano and organ, and was organist at the Crystal Cathedral for 18 years. There are piano solos, organ solos, and organ/piano duets. Their CD is now available on ITUNES if you would like some inspirational keyboard music!

On October 27th, Joanna Parypinski (English) married her husband Jake Kaplan in a fun and festive Halloween wedding at The Castaway in Burbank. She recited her vows in the form and rhyme scheme of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven,” and the couple lit a unity jack-o-lantern as part of the ceremony. Their first dance was “Thriller.”

Joanna also had a story published this month in an anthology of water-themed horror stories called The Beauty of Death 2 – Death by Water.
