I wish to express my thanks to the Garfield campus for their support over the last year or so as I served as Garfield Steward. It was both a rewarding experience and a wonderful opportunity to begin learning more about governance and the tremendous role that our union plays in supporting its members. I could never have imagined all the various issues which would come to light, affecting both the whole GCC community as well as so many individual needs right at Garfield. I saw significant changes in pay issues, long fought for office hour compensation for noncredit, retirement clarifications, and a multitude of other positive changes. So much goes on behind the scenes, helping faculty with various questions they have and problems they face. Our guild and negotiating team continue to represent you with utmost diligence, perseverance, and genuine concern for your welfare and rights.
It was with regret that I was not in a position to run for re-election. The issues which made it infeasible at the time will hopefully be addressed in the near future. I wish my successor, Krista Raimondo, all the best, and I remain ready to be an active voice in governance concerns. Thanks to all of you who have expressed such sincere words of appreciation. It has been my honor to serve you!
