Another Classified Employees Week has come and gone.  We changed up our annual Faculty/Staff Basketball Game by adding a student team to play against a blended faculty and staff team.   Well, let’s just say experience is not overrated.  The faculty/staff team won by pulling away to a 40-33 victory in the second half!  The winning team here was made up of several veterans of the event.

This was the first time we had an ASGCC team participate and they played with energy and determination.   This is the student team who jumped out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter:

We even had a guest in attendance, Henan Joof, to cheer on his old teammates.  Many thanks go to Austin Kemie for organizing the teams this year.  The game was well-attended and will continue to be a highlight of Classified Employees Week for years to come.  The annual Classified Council Bingo Games were held later that week.  Bingo games have their own kind of intensity:

Now that we are headed into June, it’s time gather RSVPs to the End-of-the-Year Picnic which will be held on Thursday, June 4 on the Health Sciences Patio from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Current Classified Council members get a free lunch.  Admission for non-members is $10.  Our scholarship winners also get a free lunch.  The scholarship committee is currently going over the applications for the Student Worker Scholarships and the recipients will be announced soon.  The recipients will also be presented with their checks at the picnic.  It is always a wonderful experience for the student worker recipients and the attendees.  So keep an eye out for the email with the RSVP form, which will also ask you to choose a sandwich type.  If you wish to attend but are not a current member, you may pay at the event if you wish.  A 50/50 raffle will also be held at the picnic.  If you are not sure of your membership status, please contact me or one of our other board members and we will check that for you.  The picnic RSVP form can be filled out online here www.glendale.edu/picnicrsvp.  Please respond by June 2.
