Chaparral 2020-2021: 29.5 Letter from the Editor

Letter from the Editor

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access

DEIA is an acronym you’ve probably heard thrown around a lot lately, but what does this actually look like in practice?

In this issue, your representatives in the Senate and Guild take a look at what’s going on underneath the acronym to see how GCC is working to make our college a more equitable and inclusive community for all. Read “Faculty United” and “Senate Update” for more on this topic.

You’ll also want to check out the latest updates and info from “Classified Council Notes” and “Governance Tidbits” to learn about events that speak to issues affecting our students, and information on how everyone can participate in shared governance.

Hoping to get out and take a walk? Read about the health benefits of walking in “OUR Wellness.” And for this month’s “Reaching Across,” Dr. Anthony Culpepper and Lyn Ribisi enjoyed a vibrant conversation about their roles at GCC and ended up asking each other a lot of fun bonus questions! Check out the article for their full conversation.

Stay safe; stay well.
