Hi Everybody!

How are you? How was your 2020-2021 academic year?

The environment we’ve worked in for over a year has resulted in a lot of screen time in meetings, in class, and doing our work. We look to online resources for information and answers to our inquiries.

In governance it is all about collaborating, sharing information, and open communication.

Fun Facts

How did we do? Here’s some fun facts [say this in a booming echo voice]:

• There are 30 Governance Committees, of which 5 are the standing committees which are tied to the 5 major areas of the college (College Executive, Institutional Planning, Academic, Student Services, and Administrative Affairs).
• 148 Governance Committee meetings were held from July 2020 to May 2021.
• 348 motions were approved.

Agendas

Agendas shared were posted on the “Scheduled Meetings” page; chairpersons are encouraged to include the meeting zoom link on each agenda.
After governance committee minutes have been reviewed they were placed in SharePoint, which to access you’ll need a VPN (Virtual Private Network) – contact the helpdesk@glendale.edu if you need one. Agenda and minutes of the Academic Senate, and unions, CSEA and Guild respectively, are available in SharePoint.

Best practices

Best practices continue to be, well, practiced. Including Zoom etiquette, continued good practices of assigning proxy, attending meetings, monthly reporting of minutes and actions, and the monthly governance update.

Looking ahead, our college benefits from your participation in governance. We truly appreciate each and every contribution you have made. The future looks bright – how do I know? Because of the dynamic people that I get to work with, and that are part of our GCC community.
