We have one of our biggest scholarship fundraisers coming up with the spring See’s candy sale. The candy choices, which include three different chocolate eggs, a box of chocolate marshmallow eggs or a “bunny” box of mixed treats, all sell for $6 each. We recommend you place your orders early as some items sell out fast. The candy will be delivered on campus during the week of March 14. You can place an order with any Classified Council board member. To accommodate the last minute shoppers, we will set up a table in the Administration Building during the week of March 21. To take a look at the candy available, go to www.glendale.edu/sees. The marshmallow egg selection is a bit different this year.
The money raised from the candy sale goes toward our scholarships for student workers that are presented at the end of the school year.
Last year, we had a good response to the Get Moving series of fitness-related activities. It has been a bit of a challenge in scheduling them, but we may try to revisit something similar. In the meantime, I have asked via email for suggestions from our membership for possible after-work activities. There have been some great ideas including walks at Descanso Gardens, hiking at Brand Park, and a Japanese Garden/tea room visit among others. We will look into all of these great suggestions and see what might be feasible for us. Keep the suggestions coming to email@example.com.
Of course we’ll have our usual spring events and activities. We may sponsor a speaker or two. In May, we’ll have the Classified Employees Week basketball game and Bingo games. The scholarship applications period will be in May. The Classified Council picnic will likely be in early June.
We look forward to your participation in our events and fundraisers this spring. We couldn’t award the scholarships every year without your wonderful support!
