Chaparral 2021-2022: 30.2 Letter from the Editor

Letter from the Editor

by Joanna Parypinski

If you know me at all, you know I can’t resist a seasonal theme for the October issue of Chaparral. So of course this month’s theme is: What Are You So Afraid of?

We’ve all faced new and unique challenges over the last year and a half, so I asked the columnists this month to explore the challenges that have arisen in their areas and how they are being overcome.

The thoughtful discussions of the fears we might be facing also resulted in a common theme among solutions: the notion that we’re not alone, that we have a community, that we can face these challenges together. In times of hardship and uncertainty, we can lean on each other and on the organizations that are here for us, such as the Guild and the CSEA.

In this issue, you’ll find these discussions and resources, as well as notes about how the Classified Council is conducting remote fundraisers, tips for how to remain healthy through walking, a guided tour of governance web pages, and, yes, your Milestones and book recommendations.

Happy reading,

Joanna Parypinski
