Chaparral 2021-2022: 30.3 Milestones

Emily Haraldson

Emily Haraldson’s (Art History, Guild President) 16-year-old son Gabe played his first concert in the second violin section of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra on November 16th at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. It has been over 550 days since these talented high school students performed together. Selections included Dvorák’s Carnival Overture, op. 92 and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The concert was incredible and this mom is pretty proud!

Laura Matsumoto

Laura Matsumoto (Kinesiology, DSPS Adapted Physical Education, and Access Technology) was featured in the June 2021 Newsletter of the Asian / Pacific Islander Coaches and Allies Advocacy Group of the United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA). Laura is very proud to be a part of the API community and looks forward to on-going advocacy opportunities supporting visibility and equity for ALL.

Dominique Margolis

Dominique Margolis (Learning Commons) is deeply grateful to the editorial board of Northeastern University’s Pensive: A Global Journal of Spirituality & the Arts for publishing “Luz and Corazón,” a poetic short story about how a dog, a girl, and a woman become pollen. Dominique first arrived in the USA as a third-year university foreign student with limited English skills. “Luz and Corazón” is her tenth published/forthcoming story in English in 2021.
