As this will be my last article in the Chaparral, I’d like to simply thank many people who have contributed to the success of CSEA over the last two years.
Mainly, the CSEA Executive team and the CSEA Negotiations Team who have put in so much time and effort to do all the things that our chapter does each and every year…from our Institute Day to all the great parties to Classified Employees Week and all the other events and activities that we put on annually. It is always a lot of work and we always got it done!
The CSEA Negotiations team was amazing as always and the newer people who serve on the team are definitely an asset to us all. Their knowledge of GCC and the past as well as their vision of looking forward to the future always amaze me.
Of course, all of what we as staff do wouldn’t be possible without our colleagues, the faculty, managers, and administrators whom we support and work with. Additionally, many students have supported us with their words and deeds and have shown us their appreciation of the work we all do.
GCC has many faults and it has many great things. Our collective goal as a community of learners is to lessen the faults and increase the great things to help our students along on their educational journey.
Finally, none of what we do would be possible or meaningful if it wasn’t for the chapter members. So many people have served on Governance committees, volunteered to help out with events, served on hiring committees, and worked so hard for our union. If you look at the totality of what CSEA does, it is amazing and often overwhelming. To be entrusted to guide that for a short time has been an honor and privilege. Thank you everyone for your work…and so we move on and continue with the work.

and going away means forgetting.”
