Patron's Club: Awards Scholarships

The Patrons Club of Glendale Community College held a luncheon for its scholarship recipients on May 15 at the J. Walter Smith Student Center on campus, hosted by the Culinary Arts Department. 

This year, the Patrons Club awarded 42 scholarships and 30 grants-in-aid to deserving students, with a total amount of $23,500 distributed. Funds for these scholarships are generated from the yearly fashion show and silent auction, which this year will be held on Nov. 7 at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank.

Superintendent/President Dr. David Viar welcomed the scholarship winners. Superintendent/President Emeritus Dr. John Davitt, a longtime supporter of the Patrons Club, congratulated the club for its dedication and effort in helping students achieve their educational goals.

This year’s recipients, who all plan to transfer to four-year universities, are Christopher Aguilar, Sean McLaren, Hrach Agazaryan, Adriann Flores, Dalar Melkon, Skyler Saleebyan, Michael Shahnazarians, Liyana Avansian, Hovannes Kervanbachian, Arda Tchakian, Theodore Arakelian, Tyler Dunivan-Scott, Andy Juarez, Jason Blancett, Genevieve Conway, Anika Rampino, Natalie Sarukhanian, Emily Garibian, Arin Hartounian, Andadell Murray, Allison Paxton, Andrea Menjivar, Ariga Gharibian, Ryan Gustafsen, Marie Grace Nsaavu Nzau, Bliss Saleebyan, Noor El Farra, Valerie Enciso, Monique Gavorkian, Ivania Munguia-Contreras, Sandra Bermudez, Tyra Kristiansen, Christina Djeredjian, Andrew Pirijanian, Melinda Housepian, Melissa Montano, Jonathan Stuart, Yelena Kurinina, Juan J. Ubilluss, and Noche Nwofer.

The J. Walter Smith and Elsie Bishop Outstanding Man & Woman of the Year scholarships will be awarded at the Honors & Awards Banquet in June.
