CSEA Connection: An Update

 I would like to start the CSEA update with introducing newly elected CSEA Executive Board:

• Bill Elbettar -1st Vice President,
• Seboo Aghajani- 2nd Vice President,
• Narbeh Nazari - Grievance Officer,
• Nancy McLees-Secretary,
• Tzoler Oukayan – Political Action Coordinator,
• Margaret Nadir – Treasurer,
• Nane Kakosian – Public Information Officer,
• Hoover Zariani - Chapter’s Past President and the Chief Negotiator. 

Thanks to Dr. Viar for nominating Hoover Zariani for the Community College Classified Employee Award for 2014 and to the Board of Trustees for endorsing the nomination at their meeting in February '14. This was the first time that Glendale Community College Superintendent/President nominated a classified employee for this prestigious award.

During Spring Break some classified employees will attend a two-day retreat filled with many workshops and trainings: accreditation and program review, leadership, tax sheltered annuity plans, overview of articles from Collective Bargaining Agreement, safety, and copyrights. Also, a workshop on shared governance and effective participation in decision making on the college issues which affect all of us will be conducted.

CSEA is still negotiating with the District and hopefully we will wrap up soon before the end of Spring Semester.
