Ideally everyone had a successful summer doing something that they enjoyed!
Many things have happened already this semester. We have completed four weeks of classes. We have had the September Guild Membership Meeting and the Fall Adjunct Guild Meeting.
We have had some serious discussions about the increase in our pay and will be well on our way to a nice pay raise.
And we will hopefully soon resolve one of the big issues on campus: The $10 Million Accounting Deficit! (Check out Piper’s Senate Update for more info on this issue).
We will also hopefully be informed about the Metro U-Pass Program and its official start date!
And finally, we hope the Glendale College Homepage will be updated soon and the email sign in will work correctly.
I hear enrollment is up, even with sections being down. Maybe it is because more students are taking online and hybrid courses. I am not sure if this is true or not. Anecdotally, this semester I have had fewer problems finding parking even with there being fewer parking lots open. Maybe it is because of the times I am arriving, but nonetheless, there appear to be fewer cars in the parking lot. Perhaps this has to do with our current enrollment.
My question is, “Who made Torquemada in charge of the afternoon session of Faculty Institute Day?”
I have to be honest: it was painful and boring. With all the sleeping people there, maybe the administration should have handed out NO-DOZ! As a person who attended voluntarily in order to get some flex and to listen to what I thought were going to be some exciting and informative presentations, I found I was sorely mistaken. Here are a few suggestions for improving our Faculty Institute Day:
