Beautifying Education

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
 –Nelson Mandela

Current Project Stage: Implement

Education empowers, enlightens, and strengthens the people and the world around us. Without proper education, one’s mind will not be allowed to expand and flourish. Social media and media in general have a powerful affect on the young generation of girls. For years, we have seen social media and media influence a young girl’s behavior, attitude, goals, and decisions in life. Furthermore, we have seen media and social media distract young girls from achieving in the world of academia. Education should remain the number one priority rather than maintaining looks to “fit in” or be part of the status quo. There is a solution to helping our young girls be more efficient learners in the midst of all the peer pressure they are exposed to.

A young girl enters the foreign world of middle school and high school and begins to change. Studies have shown that the level of confidence, self-esteem, and success in education drops. Moreover, our girls tend to lose their sense of identity. How can we teach our girls how to think for themselves? How can we teach our girls instead of telling them how to act or what to do? There should be a positive ambiance everywhere our young girls travel in order for them to be in a positive learning environment that inspires them to be well-educated, powerful, and wise individuals. Our young girls should be ready to tackle any problem they are faced with along with the peer pressure of the society we live in.

For this project, we have created a club in a school for 7th graders which promotes education, self-love, respect, and confidence.  After attending the first meeting, these students will get a chance to be involved in an environment where they will be comfortable, do activities in which they will develop a stronger sense of who they are and what they are capable of doing, along with becoming better students and learners. Our goal is to empower young girls to become confident women with their knowledge who can run the world! Students will engage in multiple activities that will be set for six “core principles”. They will have a curriculum in which the mentors will follow along with therapy sessions, tutoring, and possible field trips. Students will then be able to come back in the future and aid other young girls into becoming the future of their generation.

Next Step: Develop more activities for other core principles along with testing success rate
