How to Check out Print Books

Books can be checked out from the Verdugo Library during the library's open hours. You must follow protocols for visiting campus before coming to the library.

Please see a librarian or library staff member for assistance retrieving the books you need. Students, staff, and faculty may also place holds for books in OneSearch; see below for more information.

Other Things to Note:

  • The check-out length for print books is extended until the end of the semester.
  • You may return books inside the library or at the book-drop in front of the Verdugo Library at any time on or before the due date.
  • The library will not be charging for overdue items.
  • Students may have a maximum of 10 books checked-out at a time; staff and faculty may have 30 books.

How to Place a Hold on a Print Book

Students and employees can now place a hold on books at the Verdugo Library and pick them up during the library's open hours.

How it Works:

  • Place a request for a library book using OneSearch. See instructions below.
  • After you submit the request, you may receive an email from the OneSearch confirming receipt of the request. This is a system-generated email and NOT a confirmation the book is ready to be picked up.
  • You will receive an email (to the email address that you entered when making the request) from the Library Circ Desk (librarycircdesk@glendale.edu) within 3 business days. This email is sent by library staff -- it is NOT a system-generated email. The email is notifying you that the book(s) are available to be picked up.
  • After you receive that email, the book(s) will be available to pick up at the Verdugo Library during our open hours. Please follow campus protocols for coming to campus and remember to wear a mask when coming to pick up your book(s). Happy Reading!

Other Things to Note:

  • Students may request up to 3 books at a time; faculty and staff may request 6 books. Students may have a maximum of 10 books checked-out at a time; staff and faculty may have 30 books.
  • Some books from the Verdugo Library are not able to be borrowed, including those on Library Reserve, or in the Reference Help collections. Books marked as "Unavailable" are not able to be borrowed. Books from the Garfield Library are not able to be borrowed at this time.
  • Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this service to alumni, retiree, or reciprocal borrowers at this time.
