Library Services

Each academic division is assigned a liaison librarian, who serves as a primary contact for information about library programs, resources, and services. Liaison librarian attend division meetings throughout the semester. Contact your division's liaison librarian for the following services:

Class Assignments and Course Development 

• Consult with your liaison librarian on research assignment development, course guide creation, and library acquisitions to support your courses/assignments. 
• Email a copy of the assignment(s) to your liaison librarian so reference librarians are better equipped to help your students with their research.
• Embed library materials and information competency instructional modules into your Canvas courses. 
• Request assignment-specific library instruction sessions on topics not already covered in our workshop programs. 

Purchase Suggestions

Recommend materials to purchase for the Library's collection. 

New Faculty Fund

New tenure-track faculty may request the purchase of new books to address any collection inadequacies related to their field or to courses they are teaching or designing. In addition, we invite you to help us evaluate the library collection in your subject area. Flex credit is available. 

Developing a New Course 

Are you developing a new course for your department or division that will be going through the Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) review process? Liaison librarians work with faculty on reviewing the library's collection to ensure that current, high-quality resources are available to support the class. These materials may include print books and ebooks, journal and magazine subscriptions, reference materials, OER materials, streaming media, and other types of resources. Consider:

• Are you using the latest version of the textbook available? 
• Is this textbook available in the library and/or asked about possible course reserves? 
• Is there an open educational resource (OER) that can be used for this course?
• Does your assignment have information competency components including finding and evaluating appropriate sources in the discipline?
