GCC Congratulates Kevin Mack, as well as Flavio Frontini, on their positions as GCC Study Abroad Directors! Chaparral spoke with Kevin Mack about his vision for the study abroad program after taking over from Darren Leaver .
The GCC Study Abroad Program is now accepting faculty proposals for Winter 2026 programs (a call for Summer 2026 programs will go out later next month). For safety, logistical, and pedagogical reasons, our programs require that two instructors be present while abroad with at least one of these being a full-time, tenured faculty member. To create successful programs at least one of the instructors should have travel experience within the proposed travel location and experience in leading field excursions. The ability to communicate in the local language is recommended and the proposed courses should have a clear connection to the destination. Past locations include England, France, Ghana, and more!
The proposal deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 14, 2024. The proposal must include your Division Chair's approval signature.
After we receive your application, the Study Abroad Committee will carefully review proposals and approve one or two programs for the Winter 2026 intersession. As such, we strongly recommend that you speak with us prior to submission, as we can help craft a proposal that will be most warmly received by the committee.
