About the Nap Pod

  • The nap pod is available on a self-service basis for a maximum of 20 minutes when the library is open.
  • Single-person use only.
  • The nap pod dimensions: H 58" x W 48" x L 83.5"  / H 147 cm x W 122 cm x L 212 cm

To Use the Nap Pod

  1. Make sure the white cover is open by rotating counterclockwise so you can get into the nap pod safely. 

  1. Sit in the center of the gray pad with your feet on the ground. 

  1. Lift your feet up while turning your body clockwise to recline in the pod. 

  1. Lean back onto the gray headrest. You can then rotate the white cover to close the pod over your upper body. 

  1. Once you are finished, safely exit by rotating the white cover and rising from the nap pod feet first. 

  1. After getting up from the nap pod, use a wipe to clean the grey bed and arm handles. 

Things to Know about the Nap Pod

  • If the nap pod is occupied, you can access additional rest areas on campus: 

  • Napping Beds in The Health Center* San Rafael First Level. The entrance faces the Auditorium building. * Can also be used for lactation or pumping

  • Nap Pod in CASA Center, Administration Building 247
    Nap Pod located in CASA in Admin Building

  • Please, NO food or drinks in or around the nap pod

  • Be careful: The Library and GCC are not responsible for any injuries resulting from the use of the nap pod. GCC staff will not assist anyone getting into or out of the nap pod. Use at your own risk

  • Be watchful: The Library and GCC are not responsible for any items lost or stolen during the use of the nap pod. Place valuables near you or inside of the pod for safekeeping. 

  • Be mindful: Use headphones at a low volume to maintain the noise level for the quiet 4th level of the library. 
     *** If you need earbud headphones, go to the Library’s Research Help Desk on the 3rd level.
