Stela Fejtek

Stela Fejtek (Disabled Students Programs & Services) is very honored to have been chosen by Business Life Magazine as one of 25 recipients of the annual Women Achievers Awards.

She was nominated by The Campbell Center where she serves on the board and volunteers her services as a speech therapist to developmentally delayed adults.

Stela thanks Dr. Viar and Lisa Brooks as well as her DSPS colleagues for attending the awards luncheon at the Castaway in Burbank.

Michael Ritterbrown

Congratulations to Michael Ritterbrown (Instructional Services) who received his Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Cal State Northridge.

Claire Thoke

Chelsea Rich, daughter of Claire Thoke (Noncredit Business & Life Skills Division) is being inducted into the Harvard Athletic Hall of Fame in November.  During her four-year tenure at Harvard (1997-2001), the softball team won league three times--she was voted pitcher of the year three times and MVP once.

 

Faye Lao

Faye Lao (Hospitality Management) recently got certified as a CHE, or Certified Hospitality Educator from AHLEI, or American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute. 

Jill Lewis

Jill Lewis (Instructional Services) is proud to share the birth of her first grandson, Miles Austin Pratt, born August 31st at 5.3 lbs. to parents Rob and Tiffany Pratt.

Jill and Tiffany both graduated from GCC, Tiffany is now a CPA and Rob enjoyed Mike Petros's  program and  works in that field as a sound mixer for a production house  in Burbank.

Erin Calderone

Giuliana Jeannette Calderone (Gigi for short) was born on 7/19/2016 at 4:31 a.m. to Jerry and Erin Calderone (Kinesiology). She weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. when she was born but now she’s almost 12 lbs.! Grow baby grow!

Lynne McGrath

Lynne McGrath (Library) appeared as “Margaret” in Much Ado About Nothing at Caltech this August. The Shakespeare comedy was set in 1944 Sicily, and boasted vocal music and swing dancing. She also sang with three other ladies in a program of songs dating from the Middle Ages to 1979 at The Pasadena Public Library on Sunday, September 11th. They stole their program title from British author Anthony Powell : “A Dance Through the Music of Time.”

Vita Watkins

This past July, Vita Watkins (English) was selected to sit on the California Community College Chancellor's Office Assessment Committee. As a committee member, Vita has the opportunity to work with faculty members on matters that deal with assessment for students entering the community college system. Vita attended her first meeting in Sacramento in August.
