The Textbook Affordability Cohort will consist of a series of four remote, hands-on workshops, along with self-paced research and discussions assigned in between, for up to eight hours of Flex & GADER credit for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Each workshop will cover a different facet of finding and adopting affordable course materials, including:
- Understanding and finding open educational resources (OER)
- Using resources offered by the Library
- Exploring ancillary materials and homework systems
- Creating a plan for adopting alternative course materials at GCC
The times of the weekly remote workshops will be determined via a scheduling poll. They will also be recorded and made available to cohort members who are not available to attend.
By the end of this program, cohort members will have increased their knowledge about textbook affordability, taken concrete steps to reduce the cost of their course materials, developed a plan for the next steps they are going to take, and developed a network of peers that is also committed to textbook affordability.
