Search for access to ebooks using OneSearch.
After you enter your search terms, use the limiters on the left side of the results to select Available Online and Resource Type: Books.
For required course readings, you will need to find ebooks that offer unlimited simultaneous access. Fortunately, all of our databases except ProQuest Ebook Central and eBooks on EBSCOhost offer unlimited access for all content! See more details on the two exceptions below.
Look under Availability for the phrase "Your institution has unlimited access to this book."
Avoid assigning books that say "multiple copies" or "2 copies," etc., as required reading without also listing it for purchase with the GCC Bookstore.
Look under Concurrent User Level for the phrase "Unlimited User Access."
Avoid assigning books that offer "Limited User Access" as required reading.
Use the database-provided permalink rather than the URL in the address bar, which is session-dependent and can break. See the screenshots below for where to find the permalinks in each interface.
You can also link to a specific page in the online reader in ProQuest Ebook Central! Click "Read Online," find the page you want to link to, and click the link icon at the top of the online reader:
Click "All Options," then click the link that appears to automatically copy it.
Click the link icon, then select and copy the Permalink that appears.
Always test your links off campus to make sure they're working! We recommend using a private window in your browser to test:
