Library Ebooks

Step 1: Search

Search for access to ebooks using OneSearch.

After you enter your search terms, use the limiters on the left side of the results to select Available Online and Resource Type: Books.

Step 2: Check for Unlimited Access

For required course readings, you will need to find ebooks that offer unlimited simultaneous access. Fortunately, all of our databases except ProQuest Ebook Central and eBooks on EBSCOhost offer unlimited access for all content! See more details on the two exceptions below.

ProQuest Ebook Central

Look under Availability for the phrase "Your institution has unlimited access to this book."

Avoid assigning books that say "multiple copies" or "2 copies," etc., as required reading without also listing it for purchase with the GCC Bookstore.

eBooks on EBSCOhost

Look under Concurrent User Level for the phrase "Unlimited User Access."

Step 3: Find the Permalink

Use the database-provided permalink rather than the URL in the address bar, which is session-dependent and can break. See the screenshots below for where to find the permalinks in each interface.

ProQuest Ebook Central

  1. If you are off campus or Click "Share Link to Book" and select and copy the link that appears.Screenshot of Ebook Central interface
  2. Important: When you're connected to campus wifi or a wired internet connection on campus, the proxy prefix is NOT added to Ebook Central links.
    1. If the link does not start with or include our proxy prefix, copy and paste it to the beginning of your link: https://libwin2k.glendale.edu/login?url=

You can also link to a specific page in the online reader in ProQuest Ebook Central! Click "Read Online," find the page you want to link to, and click the link icon at the top of the online reader:

Step 4: Test Your Links

Always test your links off campus to make sure they're working! We recommend using a private window in your browser to test:
