Literature Review

This guide will help you conduct and complete a literature review.

Using OneSearch

OneSearch is the tool used at the GCC Library to help you find books and database articles with a single search! Watch this video (3:03) to learn more. 

Searching for Articles with OneSearch

From the Library homepage, type into OneSearch box.

Start with keywords from your research topic or question. The default search looks at everything in the library including scholarly articles, books and e-books, newspapers, and more.

You can narrow the list of results on the left side of the screen, where it says "Refine my results." Scroll down and try one of the following:

  • Limit by Peer-reviewed Articles if you are interested in journal articles that undergo the scholarly editorial process (Check out LMU's What is Peer Review video to learn about the peer review process)

  • Limit by Date if you are interested in sources published in a certain time period

  • Limit by Resource Type if you are interested in specific types of sources like newspaper articles or reports.
