History 105 - 20th Century Central America and the Caribbean -- Torres

The purpose of this campus guide is to help students in Professor Torres' class find primary and secondary sources to support a research question for the Investigative Report Assignment

Note about Primary Sources for Research on Central America and the Caribbean

As mentioned earlier, Central America and the Caribbean as an area of study is vast in scope, encompassing numerous countries and locations. The GCC Library has some primary sources of note for these areas.

However, there is much more from the open web that is accessible and possibly easier to locate. Many academic and research librarians have compiled comprehensive lists of these resources. Below are a couple I am recommending to begin your research.

Open Digital Collections for Primary Sources by Location, Region, Country

The websites below are open digital collections of primary sources. These links contain two types of sources: 1) closed resources that are accessible only to students of Cornell University and UC Berkeley, and 2) open digital sources available for all to access. Select the links that take you to the open web resources; these are usually listed as:

  • Digital Collections

  • Internet Resources

  • Open Web Sources or Open Access Sources

If you are asked to enter an ID or student ID, then these are not open accessible sources.

After selecting the site, select the country or location of choice:
