Chaparral 2023-2024: Garfield Site Representative Andres Cruz

This is the Chaparral, Glendale Community College's campus newsletter for the academic year 2023 to 2024.

Garfield Site Representative Andres Cruz

This issue is as simple as it gets: we are saying goodbye to the school year! As with our students, the last issue is a great time to reflect, thank those who got us here, and share any final thoughts before jumping into Summer. We asked Andres Cruz who he would like to spotlight as he ends his year as Garfield Site Representative, and here’s what he has to say:

Chaparral: Think about the last academic year. Who made your life easier, helped you accomplish a goal, supported you and your work, etc.? What would you like to say to them via the Chaparral?

Andres: The entire Guild team has been extremely supportive. They help me accomplish my objectives to support all teachers at Garfield. We meet every Thursday, and I am constantly learning from them. I value their insights, advice, and guidance. All of the Guild representatives are quick to answer questions and solve any issues as quickly as possible. I know that I could not serve in this role as a Garfield Guild representative if it wasn’t for their support. I want to thank them for showing me that the key to organizational success is support, communication, and compassion.

Chaparral: Any final thoughts for folks going into Summer and Fall in your position?

Andres: Some of our Garfield Guild executives will be stepping down from their leadership roles, and I plan on continuing with the hard work to support our Garfield community effectively. A big thank you to my Guild family!
