Chaparral 2022-2023: 31.3 CSEA Connection

CSEA Connection

by Terry Flexser
CSEA President

Hello GCC community and classified staff. We have entered the holiday season and for me it has seemed to come here quicker than normal. There have been some big changes recently at GCC, some good and some unexpected, but changes nonetheless. We know that this time of year feels busier with the hastened deadlines and personal life commitments, but each year we survive. It is important that we stay connected with one another: friends, family and coworkers.

As humans, we are inherently connected to one another. Humans throughout history have grouped together into communities, that is due to a need we all feel to create relationships with others. Communication is such an important part of creating and maintaining our personal and professional relationships. In Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs he states a need for one to feel a sense of connection. Some studies have shown that this need for “Love and Belonging” might be more important than previously thought. For us to become “Self-Actualized” we must first feel fulfilled with our sense of connection. While we are enjoying our time during the holiday season, I ask each of you to stay connected with one another. Stay connected with family, stay connected with friends. Make an effort to reach out; you might be surprised at the outcome.

HOLIDAY PARTY

Lastly, I would like to remind everyone of the CSEA Holiday Party that will be held on December 14, 2022 from noon to 2pm. We will have raffles, food, and you can see those you maybe have not seen in a very long time. This also would be a perfect opportunity for all of us to stay connected.
