It is the last column! My term as president of Classified Council is coming to an end. A new board will begin in July and I am so happy to share that Sharis Davoodi will be the next president! She will do an amazing job. Also, we will have a new treasurer! Frankie Strong has accepted her nomination as well. We will also be adding a new member-at-large with Olga Tovar joining the board. There are still positions that need filling: vice president, secretary and two members-at-large. It is not too late to volunteer for any of these positions. We are currently accepting nominations for the Classified Council Student Worker Scholarships. Go to Scholarship Information to find requirements and other information. We are looking for students that are in financial need, have educational and/or career goals, and participate in campus or community activities. The application form must be accompanied by the student’s short essay and supervisor’s recommendation letter. We all know the value of student workers, so if you have a student worker, consider nominating!
Serving as president of Classified Council has been a fun, motivating, educational and inspirational experience I will always treasure and I will always be a member. I hope more classified staff join as members or even serve on the board.
I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
