Contest Information

Help GCC Library promote its Research Help Desk service in a video and win a Nintendo Switch Lite! GCC Library wants you to create a short (1-5 minute) video telling our campus about the library’s Research Help Desk service. The FYI For RHD Promotional Video Contest is open to all currently enrolled GCC students at contest deadline. 

The submission deadline for entries is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST.

Video Content Requirements 

• Contest entries must be less than 5 minutes in length. All entries must be submitted in digital format. 

• Contest is open to all currently enrolled GCC students as of the contest deadline. Students can create entries individually or in teams of 2. A student may submit only one entry, whether they are participating as an individual or in a group. Contest prizes will be shared among winners. 

• Entries must be uploaded and submitted online using the contest form. Contest entries must be submitted in MOV, MP4, MKV, or AVI video format by Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST. Tools for converting files to contest format can be found on the Contest Guide: https://campusguides.glendale.edu/libraryvideocontest/tools 
• All videos must be in English or, if in another language, include English subtitles. 
• Limited use of copyrighted material will be permitted in the entry so long as it is a lawful or "fair" use, and so long as such use does not overwhelm the contribution of the student(s). See the contest guide for more on fair use and copyright. 
• Contest entries must include end credits or a works cited list. Ends credits or works cited do not have to be included in the 5 minutes but must not exceed 1 minute in length. Students can use any citation format for the works cited. 
• Any people in the video who can be visibly recognized must complete the GCC Library Photo/Video Release Form: https://glendale.libwizard.com/f/contestphotorelease 
• Contest entries must include the following pieces of information as written here: 
  • The GCC Library Help Desk is here to support your information needs for class assignments. 
  • The Research Help Desk offers help at all stages of research from developing a research topic to finding, evaluating, and using information resources, including citing your sources! 
  • You can learn how to use databases, find books, and more! 
  • The Research Help Desk is located on the 3rd floor of the library building. 
  • Get help using chat, email, by phone, using Zoom, or in person at the Research Help Desk.
