It’s halfway through the semester – and even if you haven’t been taking advantage of any Vaquero Wellness programs yet, there’s still time! New offerings in April include: group fitness at the Garfield campus and a screening of the documentary Cooked Also, look out for cooking classes, a yoga lecture and a weekend hike coming up in May!

Garfield Group Fitness NEW!

Starts 4/25
Tue: 4-5 p.m. Thurs: 12:15-1:15 p.m.
Location: Community Room (most days, otherwise TBA)

Nutrition

For a light, nutritious lunch, try the soups at the upstairs grill! The soup of the day menu changes each week and includes vegetarian options and gluten-free soup bases.

Coming up in May and June –2 amazing cooking classes: How to add flavor without excess calories.
Dates are Sundays 5/28 and 6/11 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Space will be limited so keep your eyballs “peeled” for sign-ups to begin after Spring Break!

Stress Reduction

Planetarium Shows
12:30-1:30 p.m. every weekday  

Wednesdays are Workshop days at the Planetarium - stop by for special presentations, Qigong or mindful meditation for the rest of the Spring semester.

Fridays are Starlit Rest & Recharge - come relax and recharge your batteries at the end of a long week. 

Wellness Lecture Series

Partial screening of the Netflix documentary series Cooked by author and UC Berkeley journalism professor Michael Pollan and engaging in a discussion on healthy cooking.

Thursday, April 27th 12:30-1:30 p.m. in CS 177
Cooked Episode 2: Water

Explored through the lenses of the four natural elements – fire, water, air and earth – Cooked is an enlightening and compelling look at the evolution of what food means to us through the history of food preparation and its universal ability to connect us. Highlighting our primal human need to cook, the series urges a return to the kitchen to reclaim our lost traditions and to forge a deeper, more meaningful connection to the ingredients and cooking techniques that we use to nourish ourselves.
