Fall is in the air! Well, it is actually still hot outside, but the fall semester is here and that means it is time to renew or sign up for Classified Council for the 2019-2020 academic year. Dues are only $7 per year.
For those new to Classified Council, it is an organization open to all classified employees, providing staff development opportunities, philanthropic activities, fundraisers for student scholarships, and off- and on-campus events and opportunities to get to know colleagues. Members get a free lunch at the end-of-the-year picnic in June and a discount on dinner at the off-campus holiday party. Member birthday recognition includes a lottery scratcher ticket. Non-classified employees are also welcome to sign up in the “Friend of Classified Council” category. Have a look at the event photo gallery on the website at www.glendale.edu/classifiedcouncil. The membership form is also online and includes an area for you to specify any committees you would like to serve on or activities you would like to see Classified Council offer to employees..
If you are unsure of your membership status, you can check it on SharePoint! Go to https://sp.glendale.edu/classifiedcouncil/ and enter your name. You will be able to see if your membership is up to date. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact any Classified Council board member.
There have been some changes to the Classified Council board after the recent elections.
The new board members are:
President – Wendy Grove
Vice President – Kit Crawford
Treasurer – Patricia Chamroonrat
Secretary – Susan Moran
Members-at-Large: Noushin Ahmadpour, Arpi Amirian, Hasmik Ghanbary, Melissa Malandrakis and Karmen Mirzoyan.
Coming up this semester, we will have a fall-themed membership mixer/pizza party in October. There will be a staff development event Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Student Center with guest speaker Anjalika Nigam, Director of Development at Ascencia of Glendale. She will discuss homelessness in the community and services that can assist homeless students. There are two scholarship fundraisers – Tupperware in October and the holiday See’s candy fundraiser beginning in November. The annual holiday party will be in early December.
As event details become finalized, you can expect to receive email announcements and information is always available on the Classified Council website.
