Welcome back to another school year! I hope you’re all settled into the semester, which has taken off so quickly—it’s hard to believe we’re already a month in.
It’s a funny thing, this time of year, because for us it’s the start of a new year, something that won’t happen for those outside of academia until January. And as they say, New Year, New You: so what’s new as we head into the 2019-2020 academic year?
Aside from a new funding formula, new course sequences due to AB 705, a new Starbucks in the student commons, new data management technology, and a new system in the bookstore, we also have a new food service management company, new Board of Trustee openings, new foundation grants, new developments with guided pathways, a new case of the missing $10 million, and probably a host of other new things that escape me.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same, and Chaparral is back again to bring you all the columns you look forward to reaching each month. Within, you’ll find the usual suspects sharing their important updates to welcome you back to the school year.
With that, welcome back, and happy reading.
Sincerely,
Joanna Parypinski
